Garden programs to cover diverse topics starting May 17

May 9, 2025

Lewes Community Garden will present three free environmental education programs this season. The garden is located at 366 Park Road in Great Marsh Park between the Lewes Unleashed dog park and the University of Delaware campus. All programs begin at 9:30 a.m. Bring a chair and water, and be prepared to walk a short distance in the grass down a small hill. Attendees should park along the road. Events will be canceled in case of heavy rain.

Holly Fluty Dempsey, founder of ReWild Delmarva, will lead an interactive talk Saturday, May 17, to explore humans’ past and present relationship with nature and the ecological landscape movement that is spreading rapidly in the local area and across North America.

Gregg Woolston, a Delaware Master Naturalist, will present information Saturday, Aug. 16, about the threat posed by invasive species and the importance of plant diversity and native plants in gardens.

Sussex County Master Gardeners will talk Saturday, Oct. 18, about steps homeowners can take to reduce their turf coverage, and add beauty and interest to their yards while attracting pollinators.
