Georgetown Arts & Flowers names winning scarecrows

Georgetown Arts & Flowers recently announced the 2025 winners of its Best Dressed Scarecrow Contest.

Each year, Georgetown businesses, organizations, neighborhoods and government offices in the 19947 ZIP code register with the organization to participate in this fun event. From late September until the day after Halloween, their creative and spooky scarecrows grace the town’s light posts along East Market, West Market and South Bedford streets, bringing smiles to all who live and work nearby, and those just passing through town.

Judging is based on original presentation, creativity, use of color and artistic definition of scarecrow. The judges view all the entries, carefully picking the final eight from which the three winners are chosen, followed by three honorable mention prizes.

This year’s winners are: Sussex County Emergency 911, first place; Town of Georgetown, second place; and Stars on 9 Dance Center, third place.

Honorable mentions were awarded to the offices of Sussex County Planning & Zoning, Sussex County Utility Permits and Sussex County Department of Libraries.
