Gloria Laverne Taylor, faithful church member

Gloria “Glo” Laverne (Norwood) Taylor, 76, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023. She was born July 14, 1947, in Lewes to David Melvin Norwood Sr. and Delema Mae Morris. 

Gloria worked for Intervet and Merck until she retired at 69. Prior to Intervet, Gloria worked for Beebe for over 24 years.

Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, daughter, nieces, nephews, and siblings. She also enjoyed visiting with her cousins she grew up with, reminiscing and laughing about their adventures. 

Gloria was a lifetime member of First Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she fellowshipped and held positions in the church administration. Gloria enjoyed going to the boardwalk with her family in Rehoboth Beach.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, David and Delema Norwood; brothers, David Norwood of Harbeson, and Arthur Norwood of Lewes; and sister, Mildred Norwood of Wilmington. Gloria leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Kimberly Webb and her husband John of Lewes; her grandchildren, Haley and Joshua; her brothers, Mervin (Ethel) Norwood, Evans Norwood, Elmer (Annette) Norwood and Gregory (Elizabeth) Norwood; sisters, Yvonne Johnson, Grace Norwood and Julia (Herman) Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. An honorable mention to nephews and nieces she had a special relationship with, nephews, Curtis Johnson and Tony Norwood-Faben; and nieces, Valarie Graham of North Carolina, Stephanie Morris of Georgetown, Mabel Norwood of Milton, and Melissa Elder of Lewes.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15, at First Seventh Day Adventist Church, 30007 Cordrey Road, Millsboro, with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m.  Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Repass will be held at the Native Indian Center, Millsboro following burial.
