Gov. Carney extends emergency order for another 30 days

June 8, 2020

Gov. John Carney formally extended the state of emergency for Delaware June 6 - the third extension since March.

Carney signed his first state of emergency March 12 as the threat of COVID-19 bore down on the state’s public health. He has already extended the 30-day order twice, making this his third.

“As more people interact with one another in Delaware and across the country, we need to remain vigilant and follow public health guidelines,” Carney said. “It’s important to remember that COVID-19 is still active. Following social distancing and face covering guidelines makes it possible to reopen our economy by helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We need to think about our neighbors who may be more vulnerable to this virus, and act with a sense of community.”
