Harpist Joy Slavens plays at Millsboro library

February 10, 2020

Harpist and music educator Joy Slavens of Laurel recently visited the Millsboro Public Library for a performance.

She featured a variety of musical styles, from Bach to recent composers, as well as her original compositions she is recording for a planned CD release next year.

Afterward, Slavens mingled with the audience and encouraged 13-year-old Grace McClung of Lewes to sit and produce notes on the instrument.

A lifelong pianist, Slavens was drawn to study the harp as an adult. Slavens has 30 piano students and 12 who study harp at her Expressions of Joy Music Studio in Laurel.
