Hate Has No Home Here program set June 19

Speak Out Against Hate is launching an initiative called Hate Has No Home Here, aimed at stemming the growing tide and normalization of hate.

A presentation is set for 5 p.m., Thursday, June 19, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 200 Second St., Lewes. Parking is limited, and early arrival is encouraged.

Project Manager Bonnie Tamres-Moore will be leading SOAH’s efforts. She has been successful in coordinating similar campaigns through creating visual displays and statements expressing shared values, and protecting the community by publicly standing against hate.

Keynote speaker will be U.S. Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester, D-Del.

Speakers representing five action areas will be Lewes Mayor Amy Marasco, elected officials; the Rev. Jeffrey Ross, St. Peter’s Church rector, faith leaders; Lewes Police Chief Thomas Spell, first responders; Alyssa Titus, Schell Brothers marketing director, business community; and Gloria Ho, school social worker, DSEA-NEA director, and Emerson Sheldon, Cape Henlopen student, both representing youth and school officials. Participants will receive signs, bumper stickers and posters for use in homes, businesses and faith houses.
