Helen Day, spread love and joy

 Helen Day, 94, long-time resident of Rehoboth Beach, died of natural causes Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, in Chandler, Ariz. Helen was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Feb. 9, 1922.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Edward Day.

She is survived by her five children, Mary Jane O'Brien and spouse James O'Brien, Edward Day Jr. and spouse Annette Day, Richard Day and spouse Jeanne Day, Russell Day and spouse Vicki Day, and Nicholas Day, in addition to 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and had many close and caring friends. She always had a smile, a joke or a kind word for everyone whom she touched during her life, and she leaves a great legacy of spreading love and joy to those who knew her.
In addition to her time raising a large family, Helen always found time to volunteer in the community, and along with her husband delivered meals for over 25 years with Lewes-Rehoboth Meals on Wheels. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Meals on Wheels, 32409 Lewes Georgetown Highway, Lewes, DE 19958.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the exceptional staff of The Village of Ocotillo in Chandler, where she spent the last years of her life in comfort.
Helen will be interred next to her husband at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. No date has been set for the service at this time.
