Helen Ethel Vargo, devoted to family

March 14, 2023

Helen Ethel Vargo, 92, of Milton, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, March 4, 2023. She was born July 15, 1930, in Garfield, N.J., daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Bettes) Torkos.

A native of the Garden State, Helen was born and raised in Garfield. She spent the majority of her life in New Jersey, also having lived in Elmwood Park and Kinnelon. She met and married the love of her life, Bela Vargo, and the two of them would create a beautiful family and life together. Helen was a proud homemaker, and she created a warm, loving and nurturing home for Bela and their four children. Her faith was an anchor in her life, and she was a faithful and devout member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Helen’s heart was for her family, and one of the ways that she expressed that love was through the delicious meals that she cooked, often spending hours in the kitchen. Her grandchildren captured her heart, and she loved to spend time with them as much as possible. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bela Vargo; her son William Vargo; and her daughter Claire Baldanzi. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Golden and her husband Frank; her son, Steve Vargo and his wife Debbie; her grandchildren, Jaclyn, Stefanie and her fiancé Phillip Fontes, Samantha, Victoria and Zachary; and her great-grandchildren, Oliver and Noah.

Final care for Mrs. Vargo has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
