Help WonderFest Pack the Pick-Up with donations Nov. 17-Dec. 31

November 9, 2018

Winter WonderFest will return Saturday, Nov. 17, with the mission to entertain thousands and raise tens of thousands to support Sussex County charities.

Festival of Cheer, the nonprofit organizer of the festival, has partnered with Preston Automotive Group for Pack the Pick-Up to give community members the opportunity to give to those in need, and a chance to win fantastic prizes.

“Since 2016, we’ve granted over $140,000 of WonderFest proceeds to exceptional Sussex County charities. Our Pack the Pick-Up initiative only expands the positive impact WonderFest has across the Cape Region, and gives our attendees an opportunity to help their neighbors in need,” said John Snow, Festival of Cheer president.

Through Monday, Dec. 31, WonderFest guests may bring unwrapped toys, new or gently used winter coats, and nonperishable food items to the Christmas Village. Items will be packed into Santa’s Pick-Up provided by Boulevard Ford Lincoln, a member of the Preston Automotive Group. Donors will receive a free entry for the Pack the Pick-Up raffle. At 8 p.m. each Sunday, WonderFest organizers will draw a winner for a Pack the Pick-Up prize package. Guests do not have to be present to win, and the package will include a variety of gift cards and items from local merchants. Additional raffle tickets may be purchased for $2 to $20.

Dave Wilson, owner of Preston Automotive, said, “Our company is excited to evolve our partnership with WonderFest through Pack the Pick-Up. There’s no better way to celebrate the spirit of the holiday season than by giving to those most in need. Here’s to filling Santa’s sleigh many times during this incredible community event.”

Pack the Pick-Up kicks off during WonderFest’s grand opening Saturday, Nov. 17. Dashing Through the Show will be the community’s only opportunity to run or walk through the Light Spectacular. Participants can choose to dash during the competitive 5K run at 4:30 p.m. or trek the 1-mile fun walk at 6 p.m. Both events start and finish at the Christmas Village. All participants receive a WonderFest long-sleeved shirt, hot chocolate and cookies. Guest aged 21 and older receive two free Bud Lights, and guests 12 and under receive five free Christmas Village ride/craft tickets. All attractions will be open at 4 p.m.

Having welcomed more 110,000 visitors since 2016, the award-winning Winter WonderFest will dazzle visitors with its premier attractions including the Light Spectacular, the Visit Delaware Ice Rink, and the Christmas Village. “We’re always working hard to improve the WonderFest experience! This season our event features an expanded Schellville, 25 percent bigger VisitDelaware.Com Ice Rink, many new Light Spectacular displays and new rides for all ages to enjoy,” said Peter Briccotto, event director.
