Holiday stroll event set Dec. 10 at Taormina Square in Long Neck
The Long Neck Sunrise Rotary Club and Silicato Development will sponsor the second annual community holiday stroll open house from 12 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, at Taormina Square, a retail shopping center located on Route 24 and Silicato Drive in Long Neck.
Expanded offerings include free photos with Santa, caroling by local church groups and school choirs, raffle drawings, complimentary food and beverage samples from participating restaurants, product offerings by retailers and much more.
While the event is free, visitors are encouraged to provide a $10 donation per household to be given to the Oak Orchard Riverdale Boys & Girls Club. Boxes for donations will be positioned at tables along Silicato Drive, and within some of the restaurants and shops.
“Long Neck Sunrise Rotary Club and Silicato Development have a long history of supporting the Oak Orchard Boys & Girls Club,” said Karen Cameron, event organizer from Long Neck Sunrise Rotary Club. “We hope that this event will not only foster a true sense of community in the region, but will also bring new patrons to the shops and restaurants who are so generously showcasing their wares – all in the name of a good cause.”
Attendees will receive a holiday raffle passport featuring logos of each of the square’s businesses – Brick Works, Two Meatballs, Yellowfins, Maggie’s Pet Boutique, Blooming Boutique, Treasures, Bayside Gifts, Nails at Taormina, My Ceramics, Vogue on 24 and NovaCare. They will be asked to visit all the locations and have their passport stamped at each one, where they can enjoy the complimentary food and other products and services offered. Once their card is completely stamped, attendees can deposit it at the donation stations throughout the shopping center. The winning card will be drawn at 5 p.m. One need not be present to win.
“We are happy to work with Long Neck Sunrise Rotary Club in support of the Oak Orchard Boys & Girls Club,” said Nicole Silicato-Miller, Silicato Development vice president. “The stroll is such a wonderful way to get in the holiday spirit of giving and make a difference to the children.”
