Hospice recognizes role of social workers

March 15, 2015

Delaware Hospice honors its social workers and the work they do to improve the lives of patients. The National Association of Social Workers sponsors March as Social Worker Month with the theme Social Work Paves the Way for Change.

At Delaware Hospice, social workers navigate the patient and family dynamics while ensuring the patient receives the highest-quality hospice and healthcare services. Regardless of the circumstances, Delaware Hospice social workers strive to achieve positive outcomes, whether it is working to reunite family members, provide informational resources to the patient and family or just be a listening ear. Delaware Hospice President and CEO Susan Lloyd, MSN, RN, said, “Social work is not a job for the weak of heart. Our social workers love their jobs and continually rise to the occasion.”

“Delaware Hospice social workers are well trained, very caring, and have many years of experience with end-of-life care,” said Clinical Supervisor Scott Edwards. “This unique group of individuals is focused on the needs of our patients and families, and provides them with the tools they need to face the many challenges that come at the end of life. We are proud of our social workers and salute them during this month of celebration.”
