IRHS business students thrive at conference

Indian River High School students had another strong showing at this year’s Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference.

The IRHS Chapter of BPA earned the Professional Cup Award for the first time. This award recognizes the chapter's community engagement, service and leadership through BPA with an emphasis on high levels of active student involvement in the prestigious Torch Awards program.

Lanaya Haynes was elected to the BPA state officer leadership team and will serve as treasurer for the 2021-22 school year. 

IRHS students also excelled in the competitive events. Results are as follows:

Vicky Chan: first place in Business Meeting Management, second place in Banking & Finance, second place in Fundamental Word Processing, fourth place in Financial Math & Analysis, fourth place in Administrative Support Concepts, and fourth place in Management, Marketing & Human Resources Concepts. Isaac Chandler: second place in Computer Programming. Lanaya Haynes: first place in Advanced Interview Skills and fourth place in Payroll Accounting. Misty Hickman: fifth place in Advanced Spreadsheet Applications.

These students have qualified to represent IRHS, the school district and the state at the National BPA Leadership Conference to be held in May.
