Joseph H. Drummond, liked by all he met

August 14, 2019

Joseph H. Drummond, 77, of Milton died peacefully and pain free Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at 11:59 a.m. at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with vascular disease.  He was born Dec. 19, 1941, in Amherst, Va., son of the late Olaf and Mildred (Shelton) Drummond.

Joe retired from construction and moved from Northern Virginia to Delaware to be with his grandsons and live by the water.  He loved building hot rods, coaching and umpiring softball, deep sea fishing in OBX, working at the Indian River Marina, mowing his lawn, and watching sports; especially NASCAR.

Above all, he loved his family unconditionally. Joe was an awesome person and great friend - liked by everyone he met. He will be missed.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Pat Drummond; his daughters: Angela Drummond and JoAnn Babbie; his grandsons: Zach Babbie and Justin Babbie; and his brother, Bobby Drummond.

A celebration of Joe's life will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Fish On, 17300 N. Village Main Blvd., Lewes.  A second celebration will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Farm Brewery, 16015 John Marshall Hwy., Broad Run, Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Joe's memory to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
