Judith A. Weiland, retired office manager

Judith A. Weiland, 72, of Harbeson, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Judith was born July 12, 1938 in East Orange, N.J., daughter of the late Maynard R. and Mae E. (Rooney) Roff.

She was employed for over 20 years as the office manager for Lane Builders Inc. and Cape Contractors LLC, owned by Gary McCrea. After retirement in 2005 Judy continued her employment with Mr. McCrea on a part-time basis managing the accounting for KGB Properties LLC and Lane Builders Inc.

Judy was a member of Conley's United Methodist Church and served on financial and fund raising committees. She was a member of the board of directors of ANKH, Inc., an organization that formerly provided residential substance abuse treatment to women. Judy also supported organizations serving homeless animals and had two rescue dogs that she dearly loved.

She is survived by a sister, Drusilla Piper of Newcomb, N.Y.; two nieces, Linda Chancey of Warrensburg, N.Y. and Patricia Moles of Lake Placid, N.Y.; a nephew and godson, Eric Piper of Minerva, N.Y.’ and many special friends.

A celebration of Judy's life will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, June 17, at Conley's Chapel, 22150 Robinsonville Road, Lewes.

Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers her friends request contributions in her honor to Conley's United Methodist Church, 33106 Jolyns Way, Lewes, DE 19958, or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
