Karen Marie Duko, free spirit

Karen Marie Duko, 55, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, surrounded by family at her home. She was born Aug. 19, 1960, in Chester, Pa., daughter of Bernard and Judith (Messick) Duko.

Karen attended Mt. Pleasant High School, Wilmington. From childhood Karen was always a free spirit, a faithful ‘Dead Head” and nature lover. She spent many of her years making people smile in the restaurant business. Karen was a loving and kind friend to many and she will be missed dearly.

Karen was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Gallagher, who was Zachary Gallagher's twin brother. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her three sons: Jason Duko of California, Ryan Duko of Delaware and Zachary Gallagher of California; a daughter, Sarah Johnston of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren: Odin, Mia, Joshua and Sienna; and two sisters: Jayne Chiappetta and Judy Duko, both of Delaware.

All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
