Kathleen Grandell Anderson, loved her family

Kathleen Grandell Anderson, 72, passed away peacefully at her residence in Lewes Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019. 

Born in Wilmington, Kathy was the daughter of the late Alfred and Betty (Fisher) Grandell. Kathy graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1964, where she was the treasurer of the senior class and captain of the Ursuline Field Hockey Team. She attended Goldey-Beacom College. Kathy loved her family, and was especially devoted to her two sons and spending time with her five grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion of Lewes, a devoted Catholic, enjoyed her ceramics, and loved her walks on the beach.  Kathy had a heart of gold, always caring and thinking of others, especially when it came to her family.  In addition to her parents, Kathy was predeceased by her husband, 1st Lt. Charles Richard Anderson.

Kathy is survived by her beloved sons: Charles Clifton Anderson Sr. (Christine) of Wilmington and Daniel Alton Matta (Jennifer) of Lewes; her five grandchildren: Charles Clifton Jr., Nathan, Cole, Piper, and Trent; her four siblings, Eileen Theresa DeGregoriis, Alfred Daniel Grandell (Bernadette), Anita Carmella Sargable (Don) and Loraine Elizabeth Padovani; and nine nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m., at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow Mass at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Kathleen Anderson’s name to Meals on Wheels Lewes Rehoboth, 32409 Lewes-Georgetown Highway, Lewes, DE 19958.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
