Lake Forest hockey defeats Delmarva Christian 9-0

The Delmarva Christian field hockey team dropped a 9-0 game to Lake Forest during the annual All Sports Day Oct. 2. The Spartans are 6-1, while the Royals move to 2-4.

Spartans player Shelby Moxley scored three goals, Brynn String had two and Maya Jester, Lacey Hutson, Kyra Moyer and Rachel Troutman each scored once.

Outnumbered by more experienced players, the young Royals never gave up battling until the final horn.

Royals goalie Liz Moyer made 21 saves between the posts. Josephine Peranteau made two saves in relief.

The Royals travel to Seaford Monday, Oct. 4, while the Spartans travel to Laurel Tuesday, Oct. 5.

 

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
