Laura Kaye Smith and Russell John Katona wed Oct. 3 in Rehoboth

Laura Kaye Smith and Russell John Katona were united in marriage Saturday, Oct. 3, in Rehoboth Beach. Sean Rox officiated at Epworth United Methodist Church after Hurricane Joaquin upset the planned beach ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. Walter Smith III and Mrs. Janet Taylor-Smith of Rehoboth Beach. She is a 2005 graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J., and a 2010 graduate of Wilmington University, Georgetown. She is employed as lead prekindergarten teacher at Premier Learning Early Childhood Education Center in Prairie Village, Kan.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Katona of Parma, Ohio. He is a 2009 graduate of Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., and is employed as a mechanical engineer by Bayer in Kansas City, Mo.

Following the wedding, the couple reside in Kansas City, Mo.
