Lawrence Morris, retired mason

Lawrence Morris, 86, of Lewes departed this life Monday, Aug. 12, 2019. Pop, as he was affectionately known, was born Feb. 27, 1933, in Lewes to the late John and Eliza Morris. 

He received his education at the Rabbits Ferry School in Lewes. 

During his lifetime, Lawrence had various jobs. He had his own wood-cutting business, and he did masonry work for Shea Concrete until he retired in 1998. 

He enjoyed watching old westerns and making ice cream. Lawrence especially loved spending time with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Morris; his siblings; and his granddaughter Christina Morris.

He is survived by his eight children, Irene Holland of Milford, Jerry Harmon of Milford, Lawrence Morris Jr. (Natalie) of Milton, Tammy Morris and companion (Maurice) of Harbeson, Mary Jackson of Milford, Lisa Morris and companion (Martin) of Milford, Amy Carter (Clayton) of Berlin, Md., and Janet Morris of Lewes. He leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of additional family and friends.

A viewing service will be held at St. John 2nd Baptist Church 26602 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro, Friday, Aug. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, at noon. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to service at St.  John 2nd Baptist Church.
