Here we go again putting up fences to keep honest people out. Delaware can pass all the laws it desires, but if it’s not able or willing to enforce them, they are meaningless. People are now routinely passing on double-yellow lines, blowing stop signs, talking and texting on mobile phones and dangerously tailgating, just to name a few. Speeding is out of control, and I’m not talking about 5 to 10 mph over the limit; I’m talking getting passed like I’m standing still on Route 1. Everyone knows those big yellow “Speed Limit Strictly Enforced” signs are a joke and waste of money. I have watched people texting on their phones while a police officer was right beside them and looked over at them. I have watched speeders pass police cars with no consequences. People use our roads as an international speedway. We have informed the police on many occasions to absolutely no avail. Until the laws we have are enforced, the state can pass all the laws it wants, but nothing will come of it.
