Contrary to David Stevenson’s statement in his latest letter to the editor, the League of Women Voters most certainly did not “fight state legislation to disclose details about donors.” In fact, the League strongly supports disclosure of campaign donations and has actively lobbied for a donor’s occupation and employer to be disclosed to the public.
Not only was the League of Women Voters at odds with the Caesar Rodney Institute on campaign donor disclosure, but it is also puzzling that Mr. Stevenson would bring that issue up in the context of his argument against offshore wind turbines. By creating the false impression that the Caesar Rodney Institute was somehow aligned with the League on an unrelated issue, he has flagrantly mischaracterized our organization.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan citizens’ organization that takes positions on issues only after careful study and consensus. Established League positions support full disclosure of campaign donors and encourage renewable energy resources - two policies that are clearly not in concert with the Caesar Rodney Institute.
