The Delaware Court of Chancery is accepting submissions for its fourth annual Legal Art Contest, open to Delaware students in grades seven to 12.
This year’s prompt is: “Equity: What does it mean to you?” Students may submit an essay, poem, visual art or musical composition. All submissions must be the student’s original creation.
The art contest, which is being conducted in partnership with the Court of Chancery Historical Society, invites students to contemplate equity in modern society.
Participating students can submit their piece digitally by email. Submissions must include the student’s full name, email, phone number, grade, title of piece, and up to 250 words on how the piece addresses the theme. All submissions must be received by Friday, May 15.
Winners of the contest will receive $500 for first place, $300 for second place and $200 for third place. In addition, the winning students and their families will be invited to attend a reception and award ceremony to be held Thursday, June 11, after the Bench & Bar Conference at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.
Early submissions are encouraged, and full details, including the form needed to submit contest entries, can be found at courts.delaware.gov/chancery/art-competition.aspx.
