Lena Nellie Boland, loved shore life
Lena “Lee” Nellie Boland, 92, of Lewes passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born Feb. 21, 1931, in Ridgewood, N.J., daughter of the late Andrew and Stella (Drenth) Haak.
Lee was married to the love of her life, Robert, on May 30, 1953, and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. They raised their family, son Robert Jr. and daughter Sandra, in Rochelle Park, N.J. When retired, she and her husband Bob moved to Lewes. They enjoyed their life by the shore, but more than anything, she treasured time spent with those she held most dear. Lee was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and her presence will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her parents, Lee was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Boland, by only three weeks; her brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Elaine; and her sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Paul Naser. She is survived by her son, Robert Boland Jr. (Michelle); her daughter Sandra Pilewski (Steve); her grandchildren, Bryan Pilewski (Bonnie Radmore) and Kyle Pilewski; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Jeannine Haak; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 17, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
