Let’s fight for what is right

Hooray to all the people who wrote letters to the editor in the Feb. 3 Cape Gazette. Each writer touched on a subject of importance, and more letters of frustration will continue to be published.

As Tom Paine wrote, "These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman...."

Now is the time to become active, work diligently individually and in groups to move our communities as small as our family units and larger groups such as our churches, local, state, national and international groups.

Over the years, each of us has become complacent. It is time for everyone to analyze their situation and do something about it. Get busy. Complain, work, correct, don't give up. Work on family discipline, honesty to oneself and others, slovenly fashions, self-respect, respect for others, find and expose the corruption.

Yes, mankind, the world over is going down the tubes, but each one is now excited enough that we must shake out of our lethargy and fight for what is right. Do the right thing! Get busy! Begin to correct what you can. Let's go!

Letters may not be critical of personalities or specific businesses. Criticism of public figures is permissible. Endorsement letters for political candidates are no longer accepted. Letters must be the author’s original work, and may not be generated by artificial intelligence tools. Templates, form letters and letters containing language similar to other submissions will not be published.
