Lewes Fire Department weathers storm for festival
Auxiliary and Station 82 sponsor first Apple & Cider event at Station 2 in Nassau
September 30, 2023
Moving the event from a rain-soaked Sept. 23, the Lewes Fire Department and Auxiliary sponsored the Apple & Cider Festival Sept. 24 at Station 2 in Nassau. It comes after a successful Sip & Shop held in June.
The event included more than 50 vendors, tours of fire apparatus for children, refreshments, pony rides and a petting zoo by The Little Farm. With a fall theme, refreshments served by the auxiliary included Fifer Orchards’ apple cider (including hard cider) and apple-flavored treats.

Dozens of arts and crafts vendors fill the station’s large bay for trucks. Vendors sold everything from candles to decor to jewelry to fudge to artwork.

What kid can resist a fire truck? Nolan Stanley of Lewes takes the driver’s seat of one of Lewes Fire Department’s trucks.

Ridge Teel, 15 months old, gets some help feeding The Little Farm’s alpaca from dad Dane and mom Melissa. The family lives in Millsboro.

Kristi Gray of KG Tumblers DE, based in Slaughter Beach, has several tables full of her handiwork. She was one of dozens of vendors taking part in the event.

The Sweet River Candy Co. tables are overflowing with all types of candy, including seasonal sweets.
