Lewes honored as Safest City in Delaware

The City of Lewes has been named the Safest City in Delaware by SafeWise. 

According to FBI crime reports, Lewes boasts property crime rates 27 percent lower and violent crime rates 79 percent lower than national averages. Their rates went from 2.67 violent crimes per 1,000 people in 2015 to 0.98. Property crimes also fell, going from 25.73 per 1,000 people to 20.55.

Also making the top 10 are Milton, Clayton, Newark, Middletown, Selbyville, Camden, Elsmere, Millsboro and New Castle.
