Little Vikings celebrate friendship with Hearty Party

March 28, 2026

Little Vikings students recently celebrated friendship in the sweetest way possible, with a special Hearty Party that combined cookie decorating, collaboration and meaningful lessons about kindness.

The classroom was filled with excitement as students gathered around tables set for a family-style treat. With frosting, sprinkles, cherries and other colorful toppings ready to go, children eagerly began building their cookie creations. But the event was about much more than dessert.

Throughout the activity, students practiced essential social skills in a real-world setting. They learned how to politely request items from classmates, pass materials around the table and take turns while decorating. Teachers guided conversations and encouraged students to use kind words and patience as they worked together.

The family-style format gave students an opportunity to build communication and teamwork skills while reinforcing classroom expectations. Waiting for a turn, sharing supplies and offering compliments to friends helped children understand how small acts of kindness contribute to a positive and supportive learning environment.

The event also served as a reminder that social-emotional growth is just as important as academic development in the early years. By participating in shared experiences like the Hearty Party, students strengthened friendships and built confidence in interacting with their peers.

There were plenty of smiles, encouraging words and laughter, along with a few extra cherries on top, as students discovered that being a thoughtful and caring friend is just as sweet as the cookies they decorated.
