Living Intentional Simplicity lecture set Aug. 3

Final topic of All Saints' adult summer series
July 28, 2011

“Spiritual Ecology: Living Intentional Simplicity” is the topic of the fifth and final session in the adult summer series sponsored by All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Rehoboth Beach.

Sister Barbara Jean Brown of the Anamchara Fellowship of Newark, a religious order under the direction of the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware, will address the topic from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3. The lecture will take place in the parish hall adjacent to the church at 18 Olive Ave.

Sister B.J., as she is known, will discuss how one can live simply even in the complex modern world. Using biblical stories and personal examples, along with her infectious sense of humor, Sister B.J. will lead participants on an exploration of practical ways of meeting the demands of life without over-indulging or becoming extravagant.

“This is a fitting end to our series on Inner and Outer Ecology,” said the Rev. Christopher Moore, priest associate at All Saints’ and planner of the series. “We have been looking at the ecology of the outer world - our planet and our local beach environment - in the light of climate change. Now we turn inward and look at the ecology of our own spiritual lives and how we might live more gently on our beautiful and fragile planet.”

There is no change for this program, which is open to the public. Light refreshments, courtesy of The Ice Cream Store on Rehoboth Avenue in Rehoboth Beach, will be served at the conclusion of the program. Parking is available in the All Saints’ parking lot down from the church on Olive Avenue, or at metered parking immediately in front of the church.
