Local artist series at Grandpa Mac kicks off June 2

May 26, 2023

Grandpa Mac in Rehoboth Beach will host an opening reception for its new local artist series at 8 p.m., Friday, June 2, featuring When the Robots Come, an exhibit by Corey Houlihan.

Houlihan, aka SPCWMN, is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer based in Frankford. Her company Spacewoman Studios creates custom illustrations and designs for businesses, projects and bands.

When the Robots Come is a collection of art from The SPCRBTS, an ongoing art series from Houlihan. Her style is a collision of illustration, and street and pop art. Fun, bold, colorful original pieces will be on display and available for purchase.

Houlihan created the new mural inside Grandpa Mac, combining one of her SPCRBTS characters with its pasta machine, resulting in the “Pastabot.”

Houlihan was recently chosen to paint a mural on an electric power box in Salisbury, Md., as part of its Downtown Arts District mural project. She has also created artwork for living legend Roberta Flack, which now comprises a permanent installation in Washington, D.C.

Grandpa Mac is at 18756 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach.
