Lord Baltimore Lions Club continues support for Food Bank

April 15, 2023

The Lord Baltimore Lions Club recently presented a $1,000 donation to officials of the Food Bank of Delaware in Milford.

Over the past six years, a Lord Baltimore Lions team has traveled to Milford to assist at the FBD facility. The club staffs one afternoon volunteer shift and one morning shift every month.

“It is a privilege for us to be here and to contribute in a small way to a cause that will make lives better for others,” said John Monahan, Lions secretary and volunteer. Monahan said the Lord Baltimore Lions Club donation this year was enhanced significantly by a community grant funded through the Delaware Lions Foundation. He thanked Lord Baltimore Lions President Janet Bauer for applying for the special grant and the Delaware Lions Foundation for supporting the community service project.

Lord Baltimore Lions Club members have volunteered for many years in service projects to address the growing issue of food insecurity in the community. Lions Club International has acknowledged hunger relief as one of five major causes supported by Lions service, along with vision, diabetes awareness, the environment and childhood cancer.
