LRAC awards grant to Epworth food program

Lewes Rehoboth Association of Congregations recently awarded a capital grant to Epworth United Methodist Church Food and Love Ministry in the amount of $65,000.
The monies will be used toward a new refrigeration unit to benefit food-insecure residents of Sussex County. Epworth’s Food and Love Ministry rescues 6,000 lbs. of food per week and serves approximately 300 people. There are about 120 people who volunteer with the ministry program.
LRAC is an interfaith organization composed of people of faith who have come together to achieve the mission of feeding the hungry and helping those who are facing housing insecurity within the Cape Henlopen School District and the Georgetown area. LRAC raises funds in multiple ways, most notably through its New Life Thrift Shop near Lewes. The fundraising efforts mean sizable grants are available to support LRAC’s mission.
