Made Ya Look debuts new look March 19

March 16, 2009
Made Ya Look is under new ownership and will have a new look and feel – and a greener theme – when it holds its grand opening bash Friday, March 19.

Donna Serafini and Laura Meredith took over the salon and day spa in November and have been working since to update its look, add new services and expand into an outdoor space. The colors have changed and the space has been opened up for a comfortable, contemporary feel.

Serafini said, “Our focus is going to be organic and green. It means a lot to both of us.” She said that includes organic hair color and facial products, and the spa is switching to organic cotton and bamboo towels and sheets.

With environmentally friendly products, Meredith said the goal is to pamper the client. Some spa and salon services include add-ons, such as complimentary shampoos and blow-dries after facials, she said. Manicures and pedicures include hot stone massage and paraffin treatments, said Meredith.

Serafini said, “We really want to make sure the customer leaves here feeling their money was well spent and they got what they paid for.”

Serafini, a former bar manager, and Meredith, who joined Made Ya Look as a manager in 2004, say their past business and personal experiences helped them identify the kind of customer-service experience they want to create. Serafini said, traveling to spa getaways, she noticed the details, from music to staff interactions and décor that help create a relaxing, rewarding experience for clients.

At the reopening celebration, Made Ya Look will offer a one-time VIP card, good for 20 percent off services and products for six months. Serafini said she and Meredith hope the cards will help existing clients during tough economic times and encourage new people to come in. “If you’re already a regular client, don’t wait eight weeks to have your roots touched up; come in five weeks. Or, the person who comes in just for waxing can try hair,” said Serafini. She said they want people to try the salon and hair experience to reward themselves and to see what changes are taking place at Made Ya Look.

Over the summer, they hope to begin work on an outdoor tranquility center, where clients can sit surrounded by trees and water features as their hair processes, said Serafini. Massages will also be available in the fenced-in area, she said.

The owners say they are beginning to collaborate with Lewes restaurant Fisher Bay, which will cater spa and wedding parties.

Made Ya Look has added a wedding package for brides-to-be and their parties. The salon and spa offers a full complement of hair services, plus aesthetic skin care, massage and nail treatments.

Serafini and Meredith said Made Ya Look will continue to be very involved in charity and community benefits.
