Making memories with the Cape Gazette at Port Lockroy in Antarctica

March 29, 2023

Donna L. West of Harbeson and Sharon Brumbaugh Lynn of Marco Island, Florida, formerly of Rehoboth Beach, traveled to Antarctica (Donna's second time), Georgia Island and Falkland Islands on the G Expedition's Spirit of Shackleton trip for 21 days. They followed Ernest Shackleton’s expedition trip throughout the region. Good Zodiac landing weather allowed them to stop at Port Lockroy, the farthest south post office, museum and penguin research center, located in the Palmer Archipelago. They enjoyed reading the Gazette after meeting the four women who live and run the incredibly historic landmark. The women were intrigued about Donna and Sharon’s photo op with the Cape Gazette.
