Margaret Ann Buckles Rosch, beloved teacher

October 15, 2018

Margaret Ann Buckles Rosch, 79, was called home to Heaven Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, after a long and courageous journey. “Ann,” as she was affectionately known throughout her life, was born in Coalwood, W.Va., March 17, 1939.

Ann grew up in Coalwood and attended high school in Welch, W.Va. She studied education at Concord College and became a teacher. She taught in West Virginia and South Carolina until marriage brought her to Delaware, which became Ann’s home for the rest of her life. She raised a family in Milford and taught at Georgetown Christian School, where she is fondly remembered by many students. She also taught as a substitute teacher for years in the Milford School District. She conveyed caring and compassion for her students, and many have approached her family along the years to talk about how much she meant to them, and the impact she had on their life.

As her children grew older, Ann would leave teaching and take a position at Milford Memorial Hospital as the gift shop manager. This proved to be a good fit as her caring and outgoing nature would be a comfort to those who visited the shop. She truly enjoyed this role, and would serve for 11 years, retiring in 1990.

Ann was a longtime resident of Milton, and loved the surrounding beauty and charm of the local beach towns, especially Lewes. She attended Bethel United Methodist Church there, where she was director of the Children’s Choir. This was in keeping with her love for children which would shape and define a large part of her life. She loved to mentor and nurture them. She subsequently became a member of the First Baptist Church of Lewes, and attended for many years.

Ann will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 28 years, George Rosch Jr.; and her children Kimberly Buckles Pugh (husband Keith), Larry Buckles and Steven Buckles (wife Darlene), and stepson George Rosch III (wife Pamela). She will also be fondly remembered by grandchildren Corbin and Halle, Sheena, Roxanne and Bruce, Robin, and George and Brian. She was predeceased by her sister Faye Buchanan; and is deeply loved and remembered by three surviving sisters, June Tucker, Twila Briscoe and Trudy Andersen, all of Virginia, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A remembrance service for Ann will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St. in Milton. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the service commencing at 1 pm. Interment will follow.

The family asks that ,in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimers Association in Ann's name. www.alz.org or 800-272-3900.
