Marie G. Vassallo, enjoyed cooking

Marie G. Vassallo, 80 of Lewes, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at her daughter's home in Lewes. She was born March 19, 1934, in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late George Clarke and Carrie (Clarke) Crowell.

For many years Mrs. Vassallo was a school bus driver with the Prince Georges County, Md. transportation system.

Mrs. Vassallo enjoyed cooking and baking for all the family gatherings, with Christmas being her favorite time of year. She even had a Christmas room in her home which was on display 365 days a year.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vassallo was preceded in death by her husband John T. Vassallo Sr. in 2013.

She is survived by her son John T. Vassallo Jr. and wife Kathryn of Deale, Md.; her daughter, Anna Marie Mayo and husband Larry of Lewes; her sister Mollie Strotkamp and husband Michael of Waldorf, Md.; her brother Eugene Crowell and wife Cathy of York, Pa.; three grandchildren, Stephanie Heller and husband Brian of Deale, Victoria McCann and husband Richard of Churchton Md., Leona Delli of Millsboro; and two great-grandchildren, Stewart Heller of Deale and Anna M. Delli of Millsboro.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call Friday, Jan. 9, from 7 until 9 p.m. Burial will follow the services at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton.
