Mary Doris Kane, enjoyed retail work

Mary Doris Kane, 89, of Lewes died Monday, March 16, 2020, at Beebe Healthcare. The former Mary Doris Buser, daughter of the late Frances Xavier Buser and Hilda Ward Buser, was born Aug. 29, 1930, in Baltimore, Md.

Raised in West Baltimore on Mallow Hill Road, Doris attended St. Mark’s Elementary School and Mount De Sales Academy. In sixth grade she met the love of her life, James Thomas Kane, and they wed Nov. 25, 1950. She worked for The Maryland Department of Health before starting a family in 1953. 
In 1963 the family built a summer home on West Street in Dewey Beach. They spent every summer at the beach until moving to Rehoboth Beach full time in 1977. Over the years Doris enjoyed working at many local businesses. These included Maggies on the Avenue, The Dutchess, Pappagallo, Eagles Eye and Christmas Tree Hill. She cherished all the friends she made during these years. 
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years. She is survived by her four children: Mary Blair Dize (Wayne) of Baltimore, Mary Carol Marceron of Rehoboth Beach, Thomas Kane (Noel) of Lewes and Kevin Kane of Key West, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be announced at a later date.
