Maya Contractor, loved her family
Maya Contractor, a cherished individual known for her kindness, generosity, and humorous personality, left us Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024. She was born Aug. 6, 1968.
Maya lived a life filled with tremendous passion, humor, and love for her family, furry and non-furry. She is survived by her mother, Penny Contractor; her brother, Kiran Contractor; her children, Marley Howe and Manon Magnan; her cat, Mimi; her dog, Munchie; and her large extended family and friends. Maya's departure leaves an unfillable void in our lives, yet we remain connected to Maya through our good and bad memories, and the everlasting love we shared.
Maya graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Wilmington. Maya earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pa. She was an exemplary student who hoped to help others, a value central to her character. Her school years were marked by her kindness, dedication, and capacity to make life joyful for those around her. One of Maya's most notable accomplishments was the care she put into the family French cafe and pastry shop in Rehoboth Beach, and we hope it will continue to be her enduring legacy.
Maya was very passionate about what she believed in and touched the lives of everyone she met. Maya loved her family, loved to care for her animals, and she lived a life that was all her own. As we grapple with the loss of her physical presence, we find solace in knowing that her spirit lives on along with the love she instilled in us.
