While the town doesn’t do fireworks, Milton does have its own version of Fourth of July fun in the form of the annual Mayberry Festival.
The event, held in Memorial Park, featured kids’ games, treats, a slip-and-slide, a dunk tank and rides on the Milton Clipper Express.

A long-running feature of the Mayberry Festival is chess whiz Rick Thompson stepping up to play as many as seven opponents at the same time.

Another part of the festival is the bicycle-decorating contest as kids look to top each other for the most patriotic display.

Gabby Oppen, 7, represents Girl Scout Troop 454 at the rubber duck-matching game, where players try to match the numbers on the ducks for a prize.
