Meineke celebrates vets

Fifth year for the annual event
November 29, 2018

Out of over 1,000 Meineke Care Care franchises, the Meineke Car Care of Lewes is one of the top Meineke establishments in the country in every sales and customer service category, but its main priority Nov 12 was to honor the nation’s veterans. It was the the fifth year that they celebrated Veterans Day by giving free basic oil changes to vets, active military, citizen soldiers and spouses.

“We’re very excited to be honoring our vets again,” said Meineke owner Dave Repass. “We are much more equipped to handle the volume this year and we are running smoother being directed by General Manager Tim Dale. Most of the guys [staff] have been with me for several years so they’ve been through this before. So we are getting the cars in and out very quickly.”

Over 20 staff and even some former employees show up to work the event, keeping the 14 service bays pumping out the free oil changes. Nearly 300 basic oil changes are completed each year at the annual event.

But most of the vets want to stay at the Route 1 establishment even after their car is finished as Repass has food, refreshment, entertainment and important information free to the vets. The food and refreshment were supplied by Fins and Big Oyster Brewery owner Jeff Hamer.

“It’s just a honor for my wife Jody and I to do this today to support our vets,” said Repass.
