Milford man faces sixth DUI

January 24, 2023

A Milford man faces his sixth driving under the influence charge after he drove his Jeep into a ditch near Georgetown Jan. 23.

Police were called about 5 p.m. to a home in the 25000 block of Bethesda Road for a report of a disorderly man who was apparently drunk, said Sr. Cpl. Leonard DeMalto of the Delaware State Police.

When troopers arrived, he said, they learned the man, identified as Douglas Hall, 51, had just fled from the yard on foot and returned to his Jeep, which he then drove into a nearby ditch. Troopers found Hall sitting in the Jeep; they detected signs of impairment, DeMalto said. Troopers conducted a DUI investigation and took Hall into custody at the scene without incident. Computer checks showed Hall had a revoked driver’s license and five prior convictions for DUI, DeMalto said.

Hall was taken to Troop 4 and charged with felony sixth offense DUI, failure to comply with taking of photographs and fingerprints and driving while suspended/revoked. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $10,600 cash bond.
