Parcels were part of a larger land purchase earlier this year

Milton Town Council unanimously approved a pair of bids to sell two Broad Street parcels the town purchased as part of a larger land buy on Magnolia Street.

Council accepted separate offers for 117 Broad St. and 119 Broad St. at a July 2 meeting. Town Manager Kristy Rogers said Anthony Zelko was the winning bidder for 117 Broad St., and Kenneth and Stephanie Szekely are the new owners of 119 Broad St.

Town Solicitor Seth Thompson said the town received three offers for 117 Broad St. and seven offers for 119 Broad St., indicating a lot of interest in the parcels.

The 117 Broad St. parcel includes a 1,430-square-foot, two-bedroom, one-bathroom home. The town listed the parcel at $175,000. The 119 Broad St. property contains a 930-square-foot, bungalow-style house with two bedrooms and one bathroom. The parcel was listed for $160,000. Both parcels have 4,500-square-foot lots.

The town bought the Broad Street properties in June as part of a 2-acre bundle of properties between Magnolia and Broad streets purchased from the family of former Councilwoman Leah Betts. The town is planning to use the parcels fronting Magnolia Street as the location of a new municipal complex with a police station and meeting space. The Broad Street parcels were never in the town’s vision due to town officials not wanting the houses on them, given they are located in the historic district, and council members made it clear they did not want to tear the houses down or be landlords.
