Milton holds annual Mayberry Festival

It has become Milton tradition that every year on July 4, Milton Memorial Park turns back the clock with an old-fashioned celebration known as the Mayberry Festival. The event features kids’ games, a patriotic bike parade and decorating contest, a dunk tank and a water balloon fight.

In addition to fun and games, there was a bit of education too, as Barbara Johnson of the Delaware Readiness Teams, a statewide nonprofit, was on hand with free books.

Ryan Mavity covers Milton and the court system. He is married to Rachel Swick Mavity and has two kids, Alex and Jane. Ryan started with the Cape Gazette all the way back in February 2007, previously covering the City of Rehoboth Beach. A native of Easton, Md. and graduate of Towson University, Ryan enjoys watching the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Capitals and Baltimore Orioles in his spare time.
