More memories of the Love Creek Bridge

August 1, 2023

Dr. James VanSciver wrote in the July 14 edition of the Cape Gazette about his close relationship with the Love Creek Bridge. I also have a close relationship with the bridge and the cinder block building. My father and mother had the cinder block building built when we lived in the house that was on the property. I and my friends also played under the bridge. The people who came there to crab could catch a bushel of crabs in a short period of time. We also sold crabs, clams, oysters, bait and some grocery items, also a lot of sodas. Back then, we sold a lot of Grapette, Nehi orange, Royal Crown Cola and Coke. I hope that the bridge is left there for people with families to enjoy as so many others have for years. It really brought back memories for me when I read Dr. VanSciver’s letter, and also Mrs. Riley’s letter.
