Nanticoke Indian Tribe Heritage Day celebration slated May 4

The Nanticoke Indian Tribe’s annual Heritage Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 4, on the grounds of the Nanticoke Indian Museum near Millsboro.

Guest speaker will be Keith Cunningham, a linguistics scholar now focusing on American Indian languages and their revitalization.

The event will feature storytelling with Ragghi Rain and a performance by the Nanticoke Indian Dance Troupe.

Attractions include arts and crafts vendors and face painting. Food vendors will offer Indian tacos and traditional Native American fare such as succotash and fry bread.

The Heritage Day event is open to the public with free admission.

The Nanticoke Indian Museum is at 26673 John J. Williams Highway, Millsboro.
