Nanticoke Indian Tribe holds 46th annual Powwow

September 13, 2024

The Nanticoke Indian Tribe held its 46th annual Powwow Sept. 7-8 at Hudson Fields near Milton, where hundreds of visitors learned of the tribal community, which shared its voices, customs and traditions to all in attendance.

Numerous vendors displayed and sold T-shirts, dolls, blankets, toys and many other Native American wares. The food court sold indigenous dishes like Indian tacos, fry bread and squash, and Succotash.

The grand entry was held at noon both days, featuring dancers presenting their flags and speaking opening prayers. Afterwards, professional Native American dancers from around the country displayed their tribal music and dances. Powwows bring indigenous peoples together to celebrate their heritage through their regalia and dances.
