National Theatre Live presents ‘Peter Pan’ July 10-11

Rehoboth Beach Film Society to screen edgy, dazzling production
July 6, 2017

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society announces the next play in the series of National Theatre Live screenings, to take place at 1 p.m., Monday, July 10, and 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive, Lewes. National Theatre Live is a groundbreaking project that presents the best of British theater live from the London stage on film to cinemas across the UK and around the world.

Captured live at the National Theatre, J.M. Barrie’s much-loved tale “Peter Pan” comes to the screen. When Peter Pan, leader of the Lost Boys, loses his shadow, headstrong Wendy (Madeleine Worrall, “Jane Eyre”) helps him to reattach it. In return, she is invited to Neverland, where Tinker Bell the fairy, Tiger Lily and the vengeful Captain Hook (Anna Francolini) await. A riot of magic, music and make-believe ensues. A delight for children and adults alike. Sally Cookson (“NT Live: Jane Eyre”) directs this wondrously inventive co-production with Bristol Old Vic theatre.

This is an edgy and dazzling production that lights up the theater. It is a big, brilliant adventure and amazingly inventive. The main ideals of the show remain intact, bringing home the play’s message of childhood loss, the difficulty of growing up and being human. This magical interpretation of “Peter Pan” will make viewers want to join in the fun.

Admission for National Theatre Live is $18 for RBFS members, $20 general admission and $15 for ages 16 and under. Online reservations (www.rehobothfilm.com) are encouraged and may be made with MasterCard or VISA.
