Lewes capital projects meeting June 5
The Lewes Capital Projects Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, at city hall. The group will discuss ongoing work at city hall, the upgrades to the bathroom at the main beach parking lot and the repaving of the Beach 2 parking lot. For more information, go to www.ci.lewes.de.us.

Lewes historic preservation to meet
The Lewes Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, at city hall. The group will consider a request to build a new single-family home on a vacant lot at 237 Second St., within the historic district. The commission will also consider a request for a new fence at 123 E. Third St., and a request for a detached garage at 113 Dewey Ave. To view the full agenda, go to www.ci.lewes.de.us.

Dewey commissioners meet June 8
Dewey town commissioners will hold their monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Friday, June 8, at the Dewey Beach Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave.
Commissioners will discuss and possibly vote to approve a conditional-use application to expand seating at Dewey Kabob and Grill, and discuss and possibly vote on reaffirming John Brady as legal representative of Dewey Beach Police and town prosecutor. An update will be given on municipal election deadlines and activities, and on the Dewey Beach Enterprises redevelopment project.

Rehoboth parking committee meets June 7
The Rehoboth Beach Parking Advisory Committee has scheduled a meeting for 10 a.m., Thursday, June 7, in the commissioners room of town hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda call for a continued discussion on meters and permits, and parking for scooters, commercial vehicles and construction vehicles. Rehoboth tree advisory committee to meet
The Rehoboth Beach Mayor's Advisory Committee on Trees has scheduled a meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, June 8, in the commissioners room of town hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a continued discussion of educational opportunities. Henlopen Acres board to meet June 8
The Henlopen Acres Board of Commissioners has scheduled a public hearing and special meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, June 8, in town hall, 104 Tidewaters. The public hearing is regarding an ordinance that would change town code by adding a section allowing for the repair or replacement of legal nonconforming fences. The special meeting agenda includes the possible appointment of a commissioner, the appointment of two planning commission members, and possible votes on the fence ordinance and town budget for the year beginning July 1. Voting open for state-agency art contest
The Delaware State Police Community Outreach Unit, DelDOT and other state agencies sponsored an imaginative art contest open to all Delaware students in kindergarten through grade 6. This year's contest theme is Roadways Aren't Just for Trucks and Cars. Contest finalists have been chosen, and state agencies are now seeking community help in selecting the winner.

Photos are posted on the Delaware State Police Facebook Page at facebook.com/DSPNewsroom. Each "like" an artwork receives counts as a vote. The community is asked to vote on as many art entries as they like and to share the contest with friends and family. Voting will conclude Friday, June 15, and the winners will be announced Monday, June 18.

Eastern Sussex Dems to meet June 8
The Eastern Sussex Democrats Club's next meeting will be held Friday, June 8, from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m., at Touch of Italy, Route 1, Rehoboth Beach.
The keynote speaker will be U.S. Sen. Chris Coons, followed by a candidate forum moderated by Speaker of the House Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, and including Sen. Tom Carper's Campaign Manager Jill Farquharson, state attorney general candidate Lakresha Roberts, and candidates Kathy McGuiness, state auditor of accounts; Jack Bucchioni, 4th Representative District; Don Allan Jr., 38th Representative District; David Baker, 6th Senate District; and Bob Wheatley, 21st Senate District.

The brunch costs $20 for club members and $25 nonmembers (cash or checks only). Participants may also join the club for $30. All membership fees go directly to the candidates and their campaigns. RSVP to lub President Lise S. Haupt at liseshaupt@yahoo.com.
