Sussex County Council meeting Aug. 25
Sussex County Council will meet at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 25, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Included on the agenda is a presentation on land-use master planning. Sussex P&Z changes meeting time to 5 p.m.
At its Aug. 13 meeting, Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission amended its rules of procedure and will now start meetings at 5 p.m., with no public hearings starting before 5:30 p.m. The order of business has been changed to allow for other, additional and old business to occur before public hearings.
Rehoboth board of adjustment to meet
The Rehoboth Beach Board of Adjustment will meet online at 1 p.m., Monday, Aug. 24. The agenda includes a request for variances from the property owners of 100 East Lake Drive to allow both the front and rear setbacks to measure 10 feet on the lot. The property is located in the R-1 Residential District, which has setback minimums of 15 feet. Rehoboth shade tree commission to meet
The Rehoboth Beach Parks & Shade Tree Commission will meet online at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 24. The agenda includes two cases. The first case is an administrative appeal hearing for the property at 127 Rodney St. and is related to the denial of a tree-removal permit to remove two trees from private property, a request to remove one street tree located between the sidewalk and curb, and any planting requirements. The second case has been requested by the owners at 405 Stockley St. Ext., and pertains to the removal of four trees and undergrowth located in the city right of way along School Lane. Dewey names more election officials
Dewey Beach commissioners voted unanimously Aug. 14 to approve as election officials Phil Winkler, judge, and Paige Martin, tally clerk.
Barrett, Townsend, West are Georgetown winners
Challenger Penuel Barrett, 211 votes, defeated incumbent Robert Holston, 184 votes, in the Georgetown town election Aug. 15 to take the Fourth Ward seat. Mayor Bill West was unopposed in his run for a fourth term and Angela Townsend was also unopposed in the Third Ward election. Incumbent Chris Lecates did not run for another term. Georgetown officials serve two-year terms.
