Dewey marketing committee to meet
The Dewey Beach Marketing Committee will meet at 5 pm., Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Dewey Beach Life-saving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave.
The group will review the new committee focus and goals as approved by town council in September. Members will also discuss and possibly vote on proposed activities, including fundraising support for the new town hall and public safety building; holiday fundraising projects; business and community outreach for collaboration, information sharing and representation at upcoming events; development and promotion of a neighbor network communication system; and community outreach and education for resiliency and sustainability committee initiatives.

Sussex council to meet Nov. 4
Sussex County Council will meet at 12 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the County Administration Building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown.
Members will continue discussing the recommendations made by the Sussex County Land-Use Reform Working Group. They will also consider a conditional-use request for a distribution warehouse on a 10.896-acre portion of a 71.127-acre parcel near Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown.
Later in the meeting, a series of public hearings will be held related to the proposed Cool Spring Crossing development on Route 9 between Lewes and Harbeson. The developer is seeking amendments to the county’s future land-use map and comprehensive plan, and a pair of conditional uses to build 1,922 residential units, including single-family homes, townhomes, duplexes, condos, quadplexes and villas. The developer also plans retail shops, restaurants, a grocery store, educational facilities, a public recreation center such as a YMCA, and an arts and entertainment venue. Dewey board of adjustment to meet
The Dewey Beach Board of Adjustment will meet at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, at at the Dewey Beach Life-saving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. The group will consider three variances. The first is to permit an egress stairway to extend 37 inches into the 8-foot side-yard setback at 112 St. Louis St. The other two are related to the property at 1601 Coastal Hwy., the former Grotto Pizza site, where the owners seek to lay impervious material for a driveway and parking area, and build four enclosed residential garages on the first floor of a mixed-use structure. Dining fundraiser to benefit Zwaanendael Club Nov. 5
The public is invited to support the GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club by attending a special Dine & Donate event from 5 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Fish On in the Villages of Five Points, Lewes. Sussex P&Z meets Nov. 5
The Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission will meet at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the County Administration Building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown.
The group will consider approval of Tepache Farms, a 21-unit standard subdivision on Burton Road near Milton. Also under consideration is a conditional-use application to allow for indoor storage of vehicles associated with a limousine business on land on Daniels Road in Lincoln. Lewes architecture panel to meet Nov. 6
The Lewes Historic Preservation Architectural Review Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Rollins Center.
Members will discuss and possibly take action on four applications, including one on behalf of Darnell and Darryl Daisey for changes to an approved project at 111 Coleman Ave.

Milton police panel to meet Nov. 6
Milton's Police Accountability Committee will meet at 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, at Grace Church to hear a presentation by Sean Moriarty, executive director of the state’s Police Officer Standards and Training Commission.
The presentation will focus on the role of police accountability committees, a statewide mandate for municipalities to improve police officers’ training and community relations.
In addition, the committee will discuss its required training; committees statewide are required to complete 20 hours of training with the police department, which could include ride-alongs or going to a citizens’ police academy.
Tanger Outlets to host tree-lighting event Nov. 6
Tanger Outlets Rehoboth Beach will kick off the holiday season with its annual tree lighting and Santa’s arrival from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, outside the corner of Osh Kosh at Tanger Seaside, 36504 Seaside Outlet Drive, Rehoboth Beach.
Attractions include a holiday craft station, face painting, games and musical entertainment. A drawing will take place to find out which lucky child will flip the switch to light the center’s holiday tree. The event is free and open to the public.
UUSD to host holiday craft fair Nov. 6-8
The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware will host a holiday craft fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday to Sunday, Nov. 6 to 8, at 30486 Lewes Georgetown Highway, Lewes. Admission is free. Dewey resiliency committee to meet
The Dewey Beach Resiliency and Sustainability Committee will meet at 9 a.m., Friday, Nov. 7, at the Dewey Beach Life-saving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave.
The group will discuss the town’s resiliency plan, including actions taken by committee members since the last meeting to address town council concerns.
Members will also discuss suggestions to recommend to council strategies for businesses to implement to address climate change issues, discuss the purpose and possible expansion of the permitted uses for the Beach Replenishment Fund, discuss real estate disclosures for property owners and education of the public, discuss a possible ordinance regarding storm reconstruction measures, and discuss tourist education strategies regarding climate change, flooding and environmental impacts.

Code Purple volunteer kickoff set Nov. 11
Code Purple @ the Cape is seeking community members to help support unsheltered neighbors during the upcoming winter season.
The growing ministry, now entering its fourth year, operates through the support of sponsor churches, donors and volunteers. It will host a Volunteer Kickoff and Information Night for both new and returning volunteers from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11, at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes.
Attendees will be able to reconnect with fellow volunteers, learn about plans for the season and explore different ways to get involved. Community members are encouraged to bring a friend or share the invitation with others who may feel called to serve.
All are asked to register in advance to help streamline check-in and to stay informed as the shelter season launches.

American Legion Post 28 sets Thanksgiving meal Nov. 23
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 28 invites the community and widowed members of the Post 28 family to a Thanksgiving Dinner from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 23, at 31768 Legion Road, Millsboro.
Dinner is free for members who are widowed and $10 for the community.

Chancery Court upholds two-tier tax
Chancery Court upheld a law allowing separate residential and nonresidential property tax rates in New Castle County; tax bill payments are due Nov. 30.
House Bill 242, signed by Gov. Matt Meyer in August, allowed the county to offer the two rates, unlike the single rate offered by both downstate counties.
Legislators issued a statement saying hearings will soon be announced for the bipartisan special committee to continue its work investigating and improving Delaware’s reassessment processes.
Milton wastewater work to resume
Artesian Wastewater is resuming work on finishing its new wastewater outflow lines within Milton.
Work will be taking place on Tilney Street all during November. A portion of Tilney Street will be closed to through traffic as work goes on.
