Boardwalk task force membership OK’d

As part of an ongoing desire to have the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk recognized historically, city commissioners approved the slate of appointments to the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk Historical Designation Task Force during a meeting Dec. 19.

As approved, resident members are Andrea Hoffman, Wesley Combs, Christopher Bright, Jim Ellison and Wayne Neale; the business member is Frank Cole; non-voting members are Michael Burton and Mason Preddy; and invitees include Heidi Nasstrom Evans, Daniel Parsons and Kate McKenzie. Mayor Stan Mills is the task force chair but has been designated as a non-voting member.

A date has not been set for when the task force will first meet.

The task force is time-limited, with an end date coinciding with completion of pursuing a historic designation from Delaware Public Archives and the National Register of Historic Places.

The process is expected to take up to one-and-a-half years.

Rehoboth accepts audit report

During a commissioner meeting Dec. 12, Rehoboth Beach commissioners voted in favor of accepting an audit report related to the last fiscal year, which ended March 31. The city’s audit committee met Dec. 2 and also accepted the report.

The independent auditor Barbacane, Thornton & Company conducted the review and issued an unmodified opinion, which is the highest opinion available and signals the city’s financial statements have been represented fairly. The report is available for review on the city’s legislative portal, cityofrehoboth.civicweb.net/portal, under the Dec. 19 commissioner meeting link.
